Starting shortly after 12pm from St. Petroc's Church in Padstow, I followed the waymarked route out of the town towards Bodmin Moors in an unsupported fashion, carrying all of my own fluids/food. It had been raining heavily all morning but calmed to a drizzle by midday and stayed like that before stopping completely around 3pm. This meant the farmland crossings early into the run were soggy and underfoot conditions weren't ideal, however, there was plenty of good running throughout allowing me to make up time. The final 10 miles are up and down consisting of steep climbs and even steeper descents. There was no obvious end to the route, so I determined it to be just beyond the end of the GPX route, at the top of the steps leading down to Fowey Parish Church.

It's also worth noting that the GPX posted for the route is off on a few occasions. I followed the Saints' Way markers wherever they were and beyond the first four miles they were fairly regular. I made a slight navigation error early into the run, costing around 5 minutes. When turning right into the field following your first climb, rather than following the GPX, continue N'ly towards the water, following the edge of the field as it loops to the right following a barbed-wire fence. Much later on the GPX advises you to turn right into a public bridleway however there is a Saints' Way marker immediately before it telling you to continue along the road, turning right later. It looks fairly new, so worth bearing in mind.

You pass through two fields with cows in the first half of the run, I kept my distance and there weren't any issues.

I spotted a Spar on the route at Lanivet, handy for anyone not wanting to carry as much/ go supported.
