A 47k trail, characterized by hard climbs and steep descents, roots, logs, mud and a very remote location, beginning at China Beach and ending in Port Renfrew.

When we ran the West Coast Trail three weeks ago, we had it in the back of our minds to try the Juan de Fuca someday soon; we were especially inspired by Jen Segger’s video (current holder of the supported FKT time.) This was a tough run...tons of climbing—either straight up or straight down—wasps (Nick got stung twice and we were chased countless times), roots, mud, and the typical West Coast trail terrain. We stopped maybe four or five times and had to sound the air horn when we came across a lot of fresh bear scat. Also lost a few minutes waiting for a very displeased woman towards the end of the trail. Overall super proud of this time (9 minutes off Jen’s supported time) but man, are we wiped!
