The initial goal for that weeks was Federation Peak , but the track conditions did not look good enough.
Mt. Anne trail wasn’t ideal with lots of mud from Shelf Camp, but we managed a decent time taking 13 min of Marks ascent on his up & down FKT and 40 min off fastest loop attempt (without the summit) we are aware of.
Decided to do the 8km of road as well, since it was FKT regional editor's suggestion (makes it more accessible ) and we leaned more towards this option as well.
We both done it before and didn’t have major navigation issues, although more recce could save few minutes.
Perfect combination of skyrunning, bushbashing and mud wading, inversion and cloud waterfall. Only Jan 2nd, but it will definitely be one of the highlights of 2024!
