Report

I created this route and ran it on January 8th, 2021. It made sense to me to do a run from sea level to the highest point on the island because of the nature of the park and trail system. Rather than start anywhere on the coast, the natural pool known as Conchi made sense as a starting point as it is one of the parks main attractions. I only scouted a portion of the trail system briefly before attempting my run. I had decided what seemed to be the most direct route and went for it. I suspect that there may be shorter or easier routes but I only had a short period to plan my route and I ultimately decided to use the route which I felt most comfortable navigating. I did miss one turn and had to spend a few minutes backtracking to find my way. I chose to refill my water bottles at the San Fuego Visitor Center because I underestimated the amount of water I would need for this effort. I could have saved a few minutes and made this effort an unsupported one by addressing hydration in a different way. As is mentioned in the route description, the summit of Sero Jamonita is gated off and therefor the route concludes at the gate on the road to the summit.
