FKT: Jameson Clover - North Nasty (OR) - 2019-02-07
I completed this loop 9 consecutive times. 103.5 miles with 26,100' gain and loss, and completed it in 25:40.
Regarding the tracking files: The inReach file is a track of the entire run, but it was set to ping every five minutes which resulted in a significant shortage of mileage. I have a garmin watch track for the first 50ish and last 33ish miles. There is a middle segment that I don't have access to the track. I completed a total of nine north nasties and had company for each of them, which is evident on FB and Instagram. These posts can be obtained if needed. Thank you!
1 canceled race, 1 horrible idea, 103ish miles, 27,000K of gain & more importantly loss, 25 hours and 24 minutes, and 9 north nasties.
But these are just numbers and dull in comparison to the outpouring of generosity and support from my community. A community I am proud to be a part of.
There was a point during my training for Orcas 100 when something shifted. It became more than 100 miles. It was a journey of gratitude and positivity in a quest for bravery. Orcas was just the opportunity to put my newly harnessed skills to work. I was convinced that if I could remain grateful in the last 25 miles, I would be brave enough to dig deep late into the race.
Sometimes gratitude is so easy and sometimes it is like climbing BPA road nine times. Luckily, I wasn’t alone and reasons for gratitude showed up throughout the night with gifts of support, food, and enthusiasm. Despite the outpouring of love, gratitude was difficult in the last loop. So, I spoke each of your names outload as I struggled up each of the last climbs (Matthew can attest to this): @clovertalkrock, crew, pacer loop 3 & 9: Your support has no beginning nor end. You see strength in my weakest moments and I am forever grateful.
