Description

The Stuart Peak Round Trip begins at the main Rattlesnake Trailhead, summits Stuart Peak, and ends back at the Rattlesnake Trailhead.

The Standard Route up Stuart Peak starts at the Main Rattlesnake Trailhead, following the Main Corridor of the Rattlesnake for approximately 1/2 mile before turning left up the Spring Gulch/Stuart Peak Trail.  There are two trails which both parallel Spring Gulch for 2 miles until they rejoin.  Both the trails take you to the same point, and are approximately the same distance.  The Stuart Peak Trail crosses into the Rattlesnake wilderness after 7.5 miles and continues to a saddle overlooking the Farmers Lakes.  At the saddle, take the climber's trail to the right to the top of Stuart Peak.

Stuart Peak stands at 7,971 feet on the Southern end of the Rattlesnake Wilderness, overlooking Missoula, Montana.
