Description

The Spanish Peaks are a pair of prominent mountains that are outliers of the Culebra range in southern Colorado. West Spanish Peak is the most prominent of the two with an elevation of 13,584', this makes it the easternmost mountain over 13,000' in the United States. An interesting geological feature of note is the more than 500 dikes radiating from the mountains, many of which are clearly visible from the summit.

The route starts and ends at the Cordova Pass trailhead. It consists of a relatively flat ~2 mile forested section before breaking tree line. Once past tree line follow the cairns and climbers trail up the scree to the summit and back down.

There is currently a Strava segment for the ascent portion of the route - https://www.strava.com/segments/17796616
