Louisiana Highway 1 (LA 1) is the longest state highway in Louisiana, as well as the longest highway of any type in Louisiana. It runs approximately 431.88 miles (695.04 km) in a southeast-to-northwest direction from a dead end in Grand Isle to the Texas state line northwest of Rodessa.
The route submitted runs from northwest to southeast and will start at the Three Corners Marker just northwest of Rodessa and will end at the dead end in Grand Isle. The route also bypasses the Gateway to the Gulf Expressway and will follow the Old Hwy 1 portion of the route in the Leesville area. Due to a portion of this area no longer having a bridge; a boat, kayak, pirogue, or some means of transportation will be needed to cross the short waterway section.
LA 1 will take you through the heart and many different rich cultures of Louisiana. From the flashy riverboat casinos of Shreveport, to Louisianas oldest permanent settlement of Natchitoches, through the red dirt hills and longleaf pines of Kisatchie National Forest, near the capital of Baton Rouge, into the cajun country of Thibodaux, and along the gulf coast region of Grand Isle.

My name is Chip Autin and I'm local to Louisiana. I will be attempting to set the FKT on La Hwy 1 heading southbound starting in 3 days on November 27th, 2024 at 4am. This will be a supported attempt. I will be carrying a Garmin inReach2 which will provide live tracking as well as a Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire and Coros Apex for backups. My crew includes, Wally & Nikki Naquin, Stephanie Fulton, Lance Wesley, and Dr. Steve Morgan who are sacrificing so much more than I can ask to help make sure this FKT becomes a success. I honestly couldn’t ask for a better team. I will also be having friends and family join along the way to help crew as well as share some miles.Â
I will be attempting this FKT in an effort to raise awareness for those suffering and recovering from drug addiction and mental health while raising money for a local organization called S.A.R.A.H - Seeking Action Raising Awareness & Hope.
If you'd like to follow along you can do so on social media. The live tracking link will go live on day of attempt.Â
