Unbeknownst to me the FKT site has very nuanced rules regarding “unsupported” efforts. My run is being categorized as “Supported” because I had a film crew posted in various places along this course to film my effort. Let it be known that I carried all the resources I needed during this effort and relied only on my own skills and fitness to get it done. I soloed everything —climbing up and down all the routes occasionally running by someone filming.

Holy shit that was something. We all knew going into this that Joe’s time was stout! This effort took every ounce of fitness that I had and a little more. The plan was simple get ahead and stay ahead. Easier said than done, but somehow I managed to pull it off. I’m really proud of this effort and one of the biggest takeaways for me is that I’m truly not a natural talent. Over the last six months —if you followed me, you saw that I put in the work to get this done. Tons of scouting, lots of laps on many of the rocks, laying in my van before I went to bed at night watching beta videos, visualizing myself on climbs, and not to mention daily working on my physical fitness to get it done.

Back when this effort was still in its infancy as an idea, I told myself I wouldn’t attempt unless I felt solid on all the climbs. I’m not gonna do a standard play-by-play write up for this effort. Those of you who follow me know my thoughts and feelings towards most of these routes — shit was dialed. Instead, I’d like to give a shout out to all the people that help make this possible and there was a lot of them. Billy, Crim, Danny, Dan, Isaac all played a crucial role in giving me a catch on ropes when I was still testing out the routes. Other Homies like Denise, Caleb, Jamie, Yiran, Jake, entertained my obsessive, talk and even join me in previewing many of these rocks. There are three guys that I would like to give special shout outs to Isaac PorterJake Albright, and Dan Bocchino. In all honesty, logistically I probably could not have gotten this done without the help of Isaac. This guy not only climbed several of the routes with me for the first time on ropes, but also did so much research and sleuthing online to help me find the perfect lines, cuts, and beta for all the rocks. Isaac is one hell of a guy. Jake has not only been a super good buddy and scrambling partner, but I feel like he truly believed in me through the whole process and helped inspire the confidence that it took to get this done — also the guy has helped keep me fed over the last six months 🤣. Dan B has just been the best buddy always down to get out and listen to my obsessive talk. He also invited me along on some of my best alpine days this season. This is a rad and inspiring fella. Thank you guys so much.

Joe Kennedy also deserves a huge shout out. Thanks for being so open and helpful bro. You showed mega sportsmanship and offered great advice. As well as showing me the way up and down Pallaea!

Also huge shout out to all of the people that came out today to film and document this effort. I’m really excited to see with Jacob and Co. do with this footage.

To sum it all up I couldn’t think of a better project for my opening season in Boulder. I’ve really created a deep and meaningful connection with this landscape through this FKT. Goddamn, I’m happy to be here.

“You don’t just wake up with confidence. You build it. You earn it. Through repetition. By building undeniable proof that you are who you say you are.”

What an incredible effort that truly captures the spirit and stoke of the Flatiron scrambling community. Caleb's dedicated to rehearsal and mastery of each route is unparalleled and not to be diminished by the 'supported' category. Can't wait for the release of the film documenting this amazing, and mind boggling, achievement!
