Report

Ken and Sophia completed the Olmsted 50k FKT in the mixed gender category. Joined this time by the incredible Will Dumm and his crocheted pants, the trio honored the Olmsted brothers and celebrated the stunning emerald necklace the Olmsted brothers designed to ring the city. The trio paid attention to the route by doing things like looking at birds, looking at trees, looking at the sunset, and stopping to support small local businesses along the route. Along the way, the trio attentively noticed a sign saying that part of the Arboretum Waterfront Trail was closed (construction May - December 2026). A brief detour and backtrack which lengthened our route ensued, as we did not want to walk on a closed trail which would violate FKT guidelines, and which we know are taken very seriously. To forestall fatigue and ensure adequate fueling, stops included Bright Spot Cafe (ice cream & cookies), home (lattes), Denny Blaine (refreshing soak), Louisa Boren Lookout (homemade pasta salad), Seven (refreshments and chips), and Cowen park (burgers and pretzels courtesy of a generous christian youth group, all praise to Him for salvation in our time of famish).  Celebrated with burgers and brews at The Sloop. Special thanks to all of our trail running friends, Christian, Ritvik, Forrest, Danielle, Izzy, Alexis, Michael, Gabe, and Abby who showed some serious support, providing us with valuable pacing, fuel, and conversation to keep our spirits high on this arduous journey, and who joined us in celebrating that trail running is fun, sometimes silly, and rarely serious.

Original text removed by regional editor without author approval: Ken and Sophia returned to the scene of the crime to complete the Olmsted 50k FKT in the mixed gender category, after their previously established FKT of 7d8h15m9s (https://www.strava.com/activities/15259087335) had been deemed unpublishable by a FKT editor because we had not given the route "the full attention that it deserves."
