Report

To preserve device battery over the multi-day journey, tracks were fully stopped and saved at the end of daily stages rather than kept on pause, resulting in 23 files (including a major 70km stage). The total continuous elapsed time of 21d 8h 32m has been manually calculated using the absolute wall-clock duration from the initial start in Valencia (6 Sept, 03:00) to the final arrival in Zamora (27 Sept, 11:32). All 23 individual public files are uploaded here to verify complete, continuous route coverage."

This inaugural FKT was completed entirely as a self-supported walk during an intense, multi-week Spanish heatwave September 2026, making water management, pacing, and exposure a challenging journey.

Walking the beautiful and demanding Camino de Levante in Central Spain is isolated and extremely quiet, which involves planning and key hunting for the Albergue. A lot of the time, the key to the Albergue was either with the local police or at the Ayuntamiento (Town hall). A critical moment occurred on the leg from Villacañas to Mora. Upon arriving in Mora, there was no accommodation available due to the local fiesta taking place over the next few days. (This area is well known to have a shortage.) With no accommodation to stay at, or at the upcoming villages, I had to make a massive push to Toledo. I used the road to get to Toledo in good time to secure shelter. While the road worked well as a safety adjustment for these extreme conditions, future walkers should ideally follow the arrows (traditional path).

Pushing across central Spain self-supported under these conditions and most of the time, there wasn't a sole in site for hours with little, to no infrastructure  between stages, was a massive test for myself and my endurance.
