Route: Hart-Montague Trail (MI)

Location
Michigan, US
Description

The William Field Memorial State Park Trail, more commonly known as the Hart-Montague Trail, is a linear state park that runs 22.7 miles from Hart, MI to Montague, MI. The state of Michigan has more "rails to trails" trails than any other state, and the Hart-Montague Trail became the first paved rail trail in the state in 1989. The southern terminus is adjacent to the end of Spring Street in Montague where there is a parking lot. Across from the parking area the trail begins at the intersection of the White Lake Pathway. This is a few hundred feet north of the world's largest working weather vane if you want a brief side stop. The northern terminus is where the trail ends at Wood St. Please note that the main parking area for the northern terminus is over a half mile from the end of the trail on Polk Road. If you park at the Hart Area Public Library, you will only be a block and half away from the northern terminus and this will be much easier access.
