I recently found out this was an FKT route. I live nearby so decided to give it a try as a training run. I've run in these mountains before, and already knew the trails. It is an uphill but runnable climb from the trailhead up to the ridge, then a ridge type run until you get to Killington. From there you begin to ascend slightly until you are less than a quarter mile from the summit near Coopers Lodge, whereupon the trail aggressively ascends to the top. This short, steep, section is the only part that's not really runnable on the whole route. It's definitely a hand over hand rock scramble. The only area above treeline is the summit. I completed this out and back route on July 17th 2026 in a total time of 2 hours 10 minutes and 38 seconds, starting at 10:34AM. There were a few large groups on the trail, but overall didn't get slowed down too bad. Trail was in good shape with only a couple minor trees down. Sunny and in the 70's F. I didn't need all the water I brought in my pack.
