After the recent heat this was a perfect day for running. I started out in the rain but it passed after 10 minutes and didn't return the rest of the day.

I'd had my eye on this for a while after I found the route on fastestknowntime.com and saw that it was just down the road from where my in-laws lived.

In researching the route I'd figured that it was almost entirely roads and bog roads so 5 hours might be possible. I set out at this pace and it went reasonably well for the first 20km. Just after Glenties you hang a right straight up and over the bog. This is a gorgeous section of the route and wonderfully rough underfoot compared to where I'd usually run around Wales. It did, however, cost over an hour off my planned time.

After descending off the hills to Letterbarrow it was more or less tracks and roads for the whole second half of the route. The heat came back and every insect in the vicinity came to have a bite of me but it was at least easy footing so I could make good progress.

Water isn't an issue on this route. Plentiful streams following your route almost constantly. The water looks quite like tea but is very tasty ones passed through a filter. If I were to do it again I'd just have a filter bottle and fill it as and when, saving the weight of carrying over a litre the whole way
