After almost 5 years of being closed for construction, Cougar Creek finally reopened in spring 2025. There is a 30 m climb up and over the damn at the beginning that adds a bit of elevation from previous records, but also a smoother road to access up to the damn so I think it's a wash in terms of difficulty.
Second time on the route for the season, felt confident about the route finding and ability to move quickly through the cruxes. Tagged the summit and took the direct descent from the notch on the summit ridge. Full wipeout less than 1 km before the finish in the easier downhill section while checking my watch, but was able to finish strong enough.
Such an iconic route, easily the most aesthetic ridge route in the Bow Valley.
