Congrats to Jared & Kate and thanks for the excuse to come back to my favoritest big little city in the world.
Began this trip with the customary visit to the downtown gambling establishments of Reno, beginning at 7:23am after wandering around the labyrinthine mess commonly known as the Eldorado Hotel & Casino for some twenty minutes in search of the restrooms and a water fountain. Made some minor adjustments to the route set by Darren and Tommy during the Hunter Lake Rd ascent and had only one minor navigational issue near Snowflower (thanks, Suunto). Somehow wound up doing this on the one cold and drizzly day seemingly ever recorded during August in Reno by pure circumstance, with the weather proving incredibly beneficial for the first two-odd hours and quite miserable for the rest.
3:09:08 best estimate from Strava, total elapsed time was approximately 70 seconds longer due to running past the true summit of Mt. Rose in the midst of a near-hypothermic daze.
