Report

A full report is available on Substack [https://adharanand.substack.com/p/going-back-down-the-well-and-getting]. We set off with the hope of possibly beating the outright, supported FKT, although we were always planning to run the route self-supported and so register for the self-supported FKT. We were working well together, although we miscalculated the time we had set off, so in our heads we were 15 ahead of our real time, not that it mattered in the end as we were a long way behind the supported FKT. We had planned to stop at shops to buy food, but in the end we didn't need to, and we only filled up our water bottles once from a tap outside a community centre. The route involves a ferry crossing and you have to call the ferry with a bell. As detailed in the report on Substack, Colum was feeling fresher than me, so he raced ahead to call the ferry, but I was too slow and it left just seconds before I arrived. That meant a 10-minute delay while we waited for it to return. We had no outside help or support at any point.
