Started the morning with a run from my hotel in Station 2 to Port of Manoc-Manoc which turned out to be a 2 mile warm up in the dark. Started at the same point as the original route creator touching water on the beach. Started my FKT attempt at around 5:30AM just as the sun was coming up. I started strong as I did not think the total length to be intimidating initially. As the sun came up and the hills got steeper I started feeling slight signs of heat exhaustion. I initially planned to make this an unsupported run but I underestimated how much water I’d need to take in so I ended up stopping at a store for a bottle of water. I ran through multiple neighborhoods and towns and it was nice seeing everyone get up and start their work and school days and just see the island come alive. The last hills were brutal but the run finished with a nice downhill into Puka beach where I touched the sand after a total time of just under an hour.
