Took the high route around Mt. Adams staying between 7000-8000 feet for most of the trip. Started from Cold Springs and climbed up to sunrise where the real fun of moraine slogging began along with some actual fun of glacier gliding. Tons of goats on the route as always, no people; the way it should be. Dropped down to the Around-the-mountain trail with about 6 miles remaining and was able to log some decent mile splits for the trail miles to really cut down on time. One hiker on the trail who looked a little confused. Wore S/Lab Sense 7 SG's and S/Lab Sense Ultra 8 Hydration pack along with ski poles. For nutrition had 1 Gu gel and 5 servings of Gu Roctane drink mix, 2.5 liters of water. All in all, the day went just about perfectly. Definitely could be done faster earlier in the season with more snow and less tripping over very loose and sharp rocks.
