Alexandros Fotiadis, a member of the Salomon Greek Trail Running Team, started in Greece his new project called “My Olympus”. This project is a way to give prominence to some of the most beautiful and unique trail paths of mountain Olympus. The first trail was completed successfully at 20.07.2014, with Alexandros finishing in 1:07:02 (1:06:34 from the start of the trail path), covering 4,12 kilometers with total ascent 1538 meters. This first trail path is called Gomarostali and it starts from Refuge A, called Prionia (1100m) and finishes at 2624 meters, at the entrance of the Muses plateau, in greek Oropedio Mousson.

The attempt was unsupported. Alexandros started the attempt with only a 500ml flask of water in his hands and 1 energy gel in his pocket. No other help or escort was been given through the attempt. Also, it was agreed when planning the project that because of the level of difficulty of the route, poles would help a lot the final result so it was decided NOT to use them at all. Also the final part of the path has a very difficult point at about 200 meters of climbing. For safety the refuge holders every year put ropes in order to provide safety for all climbers. Also it was decided NOT to use the ropes at all. At the video there are a lot of points where the ropes are seen but at the attempt they were not used finally.
