Report

An out & back of the Backbone Trail. This is an existing route, however the beginning trail marker is different now than it is on the FKT website. I started my run at the Backbone Trailhead sign at the bottom of Will Rogers State Park. The FKT website has the GPS stopping where Inspiration Loop continues on, but the backbone heads North towards Topanga.

I have included the original .FIT files from my Garmin Forerunner 235 and my Garmin Viviosmart HR+. There are 9 of them. Something to note, my viviosmart hr+ died on the way up to Mishe Mokwa Trailhead. I was able to switch back to my Garmin Forerunner 235 as soon as I hit my aid stop, but there are about 4 min in which (in the compiled files) it recorded as the crow files. It should only effect the total elevation and mileage slightly, without effecting my overall time.

I have included a compiled file from Backbone Trailhead sign which has my time at 46:57:31. We have a witness who's stopwatch had 46:57:29. (I guess it takes two seconds to remember to turn off your watch after you stop running 136 miles).

I have included a compiled file trimmed down from approximately the spot of the FKT website, which has my time at 46:34:35.

I don't know where Matthew Robinson started/finished. But I want to make sure that my run is judged at the same mileage as the other out & back run. Perhaps this is something to discuss the next time the point to point backbone trail is raced (which I think is every March, trails and fires permitting). I am putting the time that matches the Backbone Trail gps route on the FKT website. But please change it to either 46:57:31 or 46:57:29, if the out & back started from the bottom of Will Rogers,

Finally, I only submitted 8 photos. I am still gathering photos from my team and a lot of our photos are over 4MB. If you need more for verification, please let me know. We also filmed this process for a documentary about running this trail using professional equipment. The editor can get you footage of leaving and coming into every stop if you need that, but it would take some time as it is multiple GBs in the original format.

Note: Allison was tracked by Garmin InReach during the run.
