I am camping in the area of the 400 trail, and it coincided with a 22 miler on my training program, so I went for the FKT. I figured out it was initially sent in as N. To S, so I went with that.
I drove from the campsite, in Wisconsin dells, to Elroy and checked in with the woman at the 400 State Trail-Elroy HQ. She directed me to the official “start” and I headed out with 4 Gu packers and a water bottle, phone and watch.
I had a Gu at 5, 10, 15 miles, didn’t stomach the last one. Ha ha.
I had three tiny stops (kept watch running) for water at a fountain on trail, water fill again at a fountain on trail, and a heavy traffic crossing near the end.
At the end of the trail, the trail ran out, then crossed a street into a parking lot where concrete path went about ten feet. The 400 State Trail HQ in Reedsburg was off to the left, so I went to front of that, then went back to parking lot and at the end of parking lot there’s a sign that reads, “trail ends”. So, although different from original submission, I’d think trail ends at end of parking lot. But, ending at the road crossing makes more sense as it’s more definitive.
