Meghan and I ran this FKT route together over 4th of July weekend. We got a late start at 10:30 am so it was already pretty hot but it was a beautiful clear day so we could see for hundreds of miles at the top of the Buttes. We carried our own water and didn't receive any assistance from anyone else during this attempt. We come up to this area every year so were super excited to see an FKT route that was doable for us. We also noticed there were no female times listed yet so it was a bonus for us to be the first two women to give this route a go! We are truly hoping some faster, badass ladies come here and destroy us. We will definitely be hitting this route each year to improve on our times. It's a big effort but so worth it. There truly are lots of runnable sections and I can already see ways for us to improve. Have fun with this one and remember to start early in the day and definitely carry some water!
