We started our attempt with the goal in mind to finish with a competitive and respectable time, since there is no co-ed category yet for this route. We feel like we did just that. The top men’s time was a bit out of my reach for my speed, but Andrew and I felt we could try for a sub 8 hour and get the second best, which sounded just as exciting to me, so we choose to start on Tuesday sept 5, at 7:20 AM (because I can’t get myself out of bed in the morning) and we finished at 3:07 pm. We did this unsupported starting and finishing at the old standard upper S.Colony Lake Trailhead, 3000 feet below the summit of Humboldt to meet the Colorado rule.
here are our splits:
Start: 0720
Humboldt: 0832
(Columbia point summited twice but we did not count this)
Challenger: 1042
Kit Carson: 1103
Crestone Peak: 12:57
Crestone Needle: 13:53
Finish: 15:07
Comments
The route does not start at the "Old standard upper S.Colony Lake Trail Head" (you cannot drive to this TH anymore). The route it Car to Car, and this variation is lame. In my opinion this time should be changed, if Andrea and Andrew want to claim an FKT for the Crestone 14er Group.
