On 7/16/2022 I ran along the North Country Trail, starting off in Mackinaw City headed to Petoskey. Angie Kessler ran with me for this adventure. Our crew composed of My wife and her husband and son met us along the way to refill our water and feed us. the weather for the day was perfect, starting in the mid 50's and reaching around 80. When we planned this excursion we weren't aware that there would be an actual trail race going on along part of this route on the same day, and this added some confusion in Wilderness State Park. The event flagging navigated us around the north end of Canada Goose Pond, instead of staying Southeast on the NCT. There was one other spot of contention on the day, as there was a recent reroute due to the Bliss Fest Music Festival. We followed the new posting very closely out of respect for the land owners in the area. This section of the NCT was beautiful and well maintained, and very runnable. The heat and direct sun made the road sections the only part of this run that I found less than ideal, but otherwise I really enjoyed it. We started our run at 7:20 and made it to Petoskey in just under 13 hours.
