I set out today not thinking I’d actually go for the FKT since I’d never ran the trail before and hadn’t planned on a big effort today. But I found the technical level of the trail to be intensely fun and decided I would keep up a decent pace and see what happens. I soon found myself flying down some of the descents and eager to push into a tempo effort. After reaching the turnaround point at 43:50, it became clear that this was turning into a full FKT attempt. I think I’m getting better at uphill pacing which is a real challenge on this course due to the several long climbs interspersed with flat sections. I managed not to completely wind myself getting back to the rockier sections where I enjoyed some more top notch rock hopping. I definitely had fun on this one, the one thing I don’t understand is how I managed eat spiderwebs on both the way out and the way back.
