Report

I just returned from a semester studying and training in northern Utah and just before I left in August I set the record and I have been eager to return to see how I have improved. I started my watch at the sign at the trailhead at 11:28 and went clockwise, I don't know why and I have never had this problem before, but the first three miles are not appearing on the map on strava or on garmin connect. My watch recorded everything, including my splits for the first three miles so I am frustrated to say the least. The weather was cloudy and in the 40's with very light rain, perfect for running. I carried two 18oz handhelds with water, a few clif bars, and my phone. Run started out great and I felt I was moving a lot slower than I actually was, around mile 7 it began to get more difficult. Around mile 11.5 and 2 hours in, I decided to eat a clif bar so I walked for 3-4 minutes, and getting back into my rhythm was difficult and my legs felt really heavy. I ended up needing to walk one little hill shortly after my food break, but I was able to run everything else with the exception of walking for a couple of seconds when going through larger blowdowns (there were quite a few since trail crews haven't been out, due to COVID). Overall, really happy with my performance and how much I was able to run as compared to August which was an absolute mess, I look forward to hopefully getting out here again soon.
