Kicked off from Montauk lighthouse ~3:45am with 2,000 calories and 2.5L of water and tailwind. Gorgeous morning with full moon, clear skies, 60F and low humidity. First 90 minutes in the dark with headlamp kept me slow in the early miles as planned.
Cached 1,000 calories and 2.5L of water and tailwind at the ferry parking lot in North Haven. Thankfully raccoons did not find it.
Grateful for the two ferry stops to break up the effort. Thankfully legs quickly found their rhythm again after each break. Heat began to take its toll in the final hour into Orient Point in the complete absence of shade.
Thank you to Brad, Robert, and William for creating this route. Looking forward to seeing faster efforts here. Or a longer non-ferry variation via Riverhead!
