A self-supported round. I started just after 7 am on the East side of Buckingham town and finished before midnight to the smell of kebabs and Indian food in Buckingham. I stopped for water refills and food at Waddesdon and Brill which were quite well spaced at the 15 and 40 mile mark on a clockwise journey. There was lots of wading due to the storm Bert flooding, including floating (not fixed) walkways that were closer to surfing! HS2 was a challenge both going South and North with roads and footpaths closed. However, I found a Hi-Viz engineer on the southbound route who runs " a few 50Ks" so he let me through. Otherwise it would have been game over.
Got foxed in a number of places where the footpath has moved and got stuck in multiple horse paddocks with electric wiring I had to roll underneath. On one occasion in the dark I got a nudge in the back and it was a horse I hadn't noticed!
As well as a number of self-inflicted nav errors there was a handful of detours due to the flooding and being advised by locals "not to go that way".
So in summary, it is a good route albeit as has been reported the stiles are in bad repair with brambles and stingers to move out the way on the majority.
