The 24-Hour effort Mt Morrison "Round Trip of Pain" was a big day with some great people supporting. Big shout out to folks who spent some time on the trail: Mike, Harper, Luke, Becca, Pat, Matt, Ali, Kenna, Trevor and Andrew P. The company and support made this effort much more special. And of course, to my wife and family for putting up with me and for the breakfast burrito at the finish. There is a such a wonderful community of people we met along the way exploring nature and enjoying their own laps.
I decided to attempt this as a birthday effort, but also to build a sold vert base for some later season activities.
We setup a mini aid station at the base of Mt. Morrison trail head for replenishment every loop. The Subtronics show playing at Redrocks provided some really excellent motivation late in the night. The weather was nice an cool, but visibility was poor as we were inside of a cloud almost the entire effort with only some break in the weather the following morning. As long as we were moving, the conditions were ideal, though the rocks became slick in the technical section toward the top slowing me down for a couple of laps in the wee hours of the morning before sunrise. I had a handful of laps solo, but was lucky enough to have some company spread throughout the journey.
