On Sunday 26 March at 08:37am Jackson and I (Angus) touched the Cape Borda lighthouse, completing the Kangaroo Island Cape to Cape run in 20hours and 37minutes. We set off from Cape Willoughby on Midday, Saturday 25 March.
We ran the whole thing side by side, with a crew who helped us along the way, with food, liquids, extra supplies etc. As you will see in both the .gpx file and the strava activity, we completed a total of 160km, running an extra 3.45km (approx) once touching the Cape Borda lighthouse. This was extra to the FKT, which 'finished' when we touched the lighthouse. We have extra photos and videos to help with proof of both us touching the Cape Willoughby Lighthouse at midday, and at Cape Borda upon completion. We kept our watches running the entire time. We are still in the process of having a video created which will showcase the run, and the adventure of getting across to Kangaroo Island, plus our fund-raising efforts (https://www.raiseit.org.au/fundraisers/brucebrothers).
Some more info about us and the run can be found here: https://fractel.com.au/blogs/news/bruce-brothers-cape-to-cape-for-cancer
Our Cape to Cape came out at 156.56km, slightly further than the estimated 154.2km crossing, as we took a wrong turn in the middle of the route which added an extra 2km to the route (silly error coming out of a dinner stop with crew, a classic miscommunication).
In the lead up to the attempt, we reached out to Geoffrey Stockwell who created the route, who informed us that he had since completed the run (in the opposite direction) in 21hours and 32minutes. Geoff was very helpful in providing some info about the route, and wished us all the best.
If you need anything else, or require any more info, please let us know, we are more than happy to supply any extra info that will help ensure we are successful in our application for the Kangaroo Island Cape-to-Cape.
Many thanks, Angus & Jackson, the Bruce Brothers.
