My friend Vassos and I started running as a self-supported mixed team at the Upminster end of the line which gives a 40k run west towards Earl’s Court. This was mainly residential roads for the first half before we started getting more central. We had to make two small detours off route due to building works. The first one was is in a development area just before Bromley-by-Bow so hadn’t been easy to plot when I planned the route and I had thought we could get through. In the end we had to retrace our steps around the bus station as there was a gate. The second was due to part closure of the greenway so we had to cross over and detour round and rejoin the route. Neither detour missed a station. Into central London the route was easier and stations closer together. We completed the Edgware Road and Kensington Olympia branches together but then Vassos dropped back a bit due to a knee injury so I continued alone from 60km. I completed the rest of the route self-supported to Wimbledon, Ealing Broadway and Richmond. We re-fuelled in shops along the way and used pubs/cafes for toilets. This would have been a self-supported FKT other than having a buddy runner for the first 2/3.
