Knobstone 50 mile trail race put on by Trailblazer Running. Started at 6AM, first hour was in the dark and finished about 5PM before sunset. Ran with others for the first 25 miles, then split off on my own from there. Mile 25-32ish is the toughest section. Did the whole thing in road running shoes, definitely would have been nice to have better lugs on my shoes for some steep ascents and descents! Aid station stops at Bartle Knob Rd, Pixley Knob Rd, New Chapel, Leota, Elk Creek, Oxley, and Spurgeon. Had the option to do drop bags at most of the aid stations, but I did not. I carried enough carb drink mix for 12 hours with me in my pack and filled 2 18oz bottle at each aid station. Had a "crew" help me at the last 3 aid stations, but not necessary. Kept my feet dry on almost all the creek crossings, there were only a few I had to put one foot in, but never over the top of my shoe. Some leaves covered the trail in sections making it hard to see where to put your feet. One or two descents had loose rock that made it difficult to run down. Saw a couple other hikers out, they were very nice, and let me run past easily!
