It was one of those days that you just want to stay indoors—rainy, cold for May (8 degrees Celsius), and with wet trails. Easier to hit a treadmill workout or just a distance run. However, I seized the chance that I could not work in the garden today, and went for a long run—so today was finally the day to attempt my first FKT! 😁

It had been raining for two days straight, so the trails were wet, hence the fancy solution with the plastic bags. First time doing the Ekeröleden beginning to end, and happy to take this FKT from the much-respected Conny Svahn that, at the time of writing, has 5 other FKTs under his belt. The trail goes through three (!) nature reserves which are not flat nor fast, so quick feet and focus were necessary. This trail has a medium risk of getting lost — sometimes you see one marker, sometimes you see two, often you see none and you are left wondering if you are still on the right path. I managed to hit all of the trail markers, so the "off-course" parts were either blocked by fences or fallen trees (since the GPX was created) or a mistake by the person that created the GPX.

Started with 0.4 L salted water and 0.4 L kids' drink with 16 g of sugar. Took one gel at km 17, and 3 dextrose tablets along the way—so clearly unfueled if the benchmark is 60 g energy/hour.

Ran with some 25 euro running shoes from Temu 😅 so, to the person taking attempts to FKT this trail next time—please improve the time by 3 min, otherwise I will attempt it again, too, with better conditions.
