I was headed to Shambhala music festival and wanted to find a shortish hike to stop and do to break up the long drive.
As we got on the road, I decided to go for forbidden peak. I'd hiked the TFT a few weeks ago and thought Forbidden on it's own would be a fun route. I went solo and sent my car passenger up Sahale. I wanted to get back quick for the drive so I tried to go quick. I left the trailhead at 9:57 am.
Route conditions were great. Sunny on the trail heading up. The peak was fogged in which made the snowfields firm which was nice for the way up, but slower on the way down. I went up the gully then up the Ridgeline. There were a few other parties on route that I navigated around on the way up and down.
I was hiking in keen hiking shoes and poles. I brought an axe and spikes but they never left the bag. I packed 1.4 liters of water and refilled at streams on the way up.
After a fun jog down (with a number of crashes) I was back at the car by 1:40 and continuing the long drive.
