I am in Michigan visiting family and saw this route on the FKT board. Since it’s close to my Grandpa’s cabin, I thought it would be a fun adventure. I have run other sections of the North Country Trail, but this was my first time on this section. I began about 7:45am from Seaton Creek Campground, ran the spur Trail to the Manistee River Trail until it crossed Red Bridge and connected to the North Country Trail, which I took back to the suspension Bridge ( via a connector) to the Trail back to Seaton Creek Campground to complete the official loop. Saw tons of backpackers on the MR Trail- almost every campsite was being used. Log down at mile 7.4, just past Cottage Rd. Several other logs down on NC Trail. On NC Trail I saw one hiker, two groups of mountain bikers, one other runner who said he started at Red Bridge, and a group of hikers. It was super humid and the deer flies were terrible on the NC Trail. I used two hand bottles and still ran out before the end. Not the best time of year for this route bug and temperature wise, but happy I got to see it. Beautiful river views on the Manistee River Trail. The North Country Trail is more tucked back off the River. We are road tripping back to Oregon now (writing this on an IPad in Holland MI outside a Pizza Ranch for WiFi).
