There was a hurricane/tropical storm rain & wind for most of the day, with a thick blanket of slick oak leaves on most trails and many trails were flooded from all of the rain. We covered our miles 55% in the dark; I highly recommend the FarOut app for navigation and information about water sources. The route took us longer than expected and so we ran out of food and our headlamps and waist lamps either died or were almost dead when we finished on the top of Mt Monadnock. After hiking the 2.4 mi +1600' approach, we started from Mt Sunapee at 6:37 am and finished at Mt Monadnock at 11:23 pm. We then had to descend 1.8 mi -1800' of wet rock slab to return to the parking lot/winter campground. Both good times and tough times but always good company!
