We decided to run the Iron Horse trail out AND back. From Concord to Pleasanton and back to Concord. But I brought a second watch with me so I could track the one-way time. We had a blast and found out just how brutal it can be to run over 50 miles on flat, hard surfaces. I am definitely curious as to how fast we could have run this one-way if we weren't trying to conserve energy for the way back. We started up in Concord at the northern end of the trail and had enough water and food in our packs to last the whole way. We had thought of maybe having to stop at a 7-11 or something, but we made it all the way to the end in Pleasanton. It was fun to see the whole Iron Horse trail, start to finish. Experience the tent cities up north, the beautiful tree lined sections in Danville/Alamo and the wide open expanses down in Dublin/Pleasanton. Good times!
