I was attracted to this course because I live on Lake Washington and it's because is such an aesthetically pleasing feature to circumnavigate. I also love how this course follows the established bike path and trails which gives it a nice historical grounding.
Running the loop was a way of exploring my limits on a rhythmic course close to 50 miles. The 2k of climbing and about 2/3 concrete surface does take a toll. The route follows mostly bike paths and some trails—about 2/3 concrete, 1/3 road.
My pacers were really a huge help. This was the first time I've run pacers and the impact is very strong. Big thanks to Aaron Long for pacing from the start to mile 26.4 and to my buddy Evan Williams for pacing from around mile 35 to 46! I had family crew me at mile 21 and 43. Thanks, family!
The weather was classic for Seattle with a mix of clouds, sun, and mist at about 50 degrees.
