The Vashon Island Traverse run was an exciting way to get a hard-effort run in as I look forward to spring and summer racing projects. As a West Seattle resident, it worked out nicely to get a warm-up run in to the Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal. Out of convenience, I ran from north to south. As a result, this divvied up the two 300’+ climbs between the beginning and end of the run. I think this worked out well for me and made the run a little more rhythmic and enjoyable.
Running from the Vashon North Ferry Terminal boom barrier to the Vashon South Terminal boom barrier provided very clear and iconic start and end points! The course navigation and terrain great — with nearly all of the course along a bike-lane size shoulder of the Vashon Highway. As a first-time runner on the island streets, this route was convenient to run without prior knowledge.
For clothing, I recommend wearing a sea-blue or sea-green shirt to match the ferry terminal color schemes. ;)
Thank you for picking me up at the end, Katie!
