SUMMIT ATTACK 23 - Charity Endurance Challenge
For this mammoth challenge I represented two charities close to my heart. The first being the Royal Marines Charity, who provide help and support to serving and veterans of the Royal Marines and the second charity was MIND Charity, who provide help and support to all those suffering with mental health issues.
The run was initially planned to be completed over the course of 10 days. Running around 50 miles a day this target would be more than achievable.
Throughout the duration of the challenge I had a dedicated support team consisting of my mother, father and brother. I also had many friends and colleagues from work who ran alongside me for the majority of the legs. I had plotted resupply checkpoints every 5 - 6 miles or so, in order to resupply things like electrolytes, water and solid foods for the next leg. A motorhome was used during the evenings and we utilized campsites as a place to stay as we moved down the country.
The challenge was very testing mentally and physically but I had a solid support team with me throughout. I was joined by Alex Staniforth (Previously attempted the challenge back in 2020 during the pandemic) through the Lake District. He was very helpful and offered some great recovery and route advice.
Overall, the body held together and mind was strong all the way to the end.
