Started at 8:11am from Trailhead 640. A teammate, Monty Bartschi, started his own long run at the same time, but he wasn't pacing me and we headed different directions at the first junction. Rolled out to the wilderness border, where I stopped to fill out the permit. Watch auto-paused on me and didn't start again for about a minute and a half. Had to go into settings and turn off auto-pause to avoid that issue for the rest of the run! Once I got through the drainages to Iron Creek, i settled into a hard climbing rhythm all the way up to Sawtooth Lake. Stopped at the saddle above the lake for a brief moment to capture video before tearing into the descent toward Observation Pass and from there back to Stanley Lake. Definitely was hurting those last couple of miles, but kept the pace high enough to break my best-chance goal of 3:20! No stops for resupply, not even to fill up my water filter. Four 500ml bottles were enough fluids due to the decent temperatures early in the morning.
