Jason and I went for the TCT as a part of our Northeast Ultra 8 Sky Runner Challenge.
Trail Conditions: Dry, only muddy in a few sections
It was a beautiful day to do the TCT. Jason and I met at 8:15 am and began the self-supported logistics. We set up two aid stations.
Trip Report: Personally, I underestimated this trail. Based on the mileage and elevation gain, I thought it was much more of a "roller." Made the mistake of not bringing trekking poles. There are very steep descents. Quads were hurting by the end of the day. Wanted to get around 8-9 hours, but had lots of feet issues and stomachs were off.
It was a long and somewhat painful day.
Beautiful trail, lots of birds and wildlife. The ferns are amazing.
