Beautiful day on the Jackrabbit Trail! Have wanted to complete this point to point for a while now. 40 miles with a wide range of terrain. Conditions were tough in areas, we had a foot of snow land a week ago and some areas are still socked in. Some sections were completely clear, all depended on elevation and sun exposure.
Day started cloudy. Dropped a car at Rock and River, then stashed gear in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake to the side of the trail for a self-supported style. Because of the clear and snowy conditions, we knew we'd need to switch out layers and socks. Started to get sunny in SL. Left the VIC at 8 am and arrived at Rock and River just after 7 pm.
I think this trail is amazing!!! Lots of points to resupply.
