Starting and finishing near Snowmass Village (Snowmass Creek trailhead) ascend Capitol and Snowmass Peaks. Everything not in the Snowmass Creek drainage is trailless with considerable fifth-class up- and down-climbing between the two peaks. A little time was saved by swimming one arm of Snowmass Lake.
