On 9/25 just past midnight we started the Lake Placid 9er Challenge on bikes. Since this is establishing a new course for the challenge we started and finished at the parking lot of Pourman’s Taphouse at the four corners intersection of Wilmington. The plan was to make it back in time for a beer. Alas, it took a few hours longer than expected and they were just closing down when we returned around 10pm which was 21 hours, 40 minutes, and 59 seconds after we started. We covered 112 miles and had a blast. We highly recommend this approach to the LP 9er. No cars or support are needed. The roads are awesome and the mountains beautiful. You will want a bright headlight for your bike, and a good headlamp for running, and a strong spirit of adventure.
