I set off at 7:30 am in the morning on a long distance trail in Cabo de Gato National park. It was very windy, and briefly considered if it was too windy to attempt the full route, but decided to go anyways. The route was mainly on easy going trails such a gravel tracks, but sometimes winds through the dunes where it is easy to lose the markers. There are a couple of villages you pass, and my partner was kind enough to provide a little halfway "aid station" with fresh water and snacks. It was not a hot day which was perfect for me, but at the end I could see the weather rolling in. A fast sprint finish didn't help me to stay dry, with the rainclouds pouring over me in the last 10 minutes finishing what was otherwise a great day out. My partner ran with me for the last couple of kilometres - this and the midway support means this needs to be classed as a supported FKT.
