I started in the Wolf Gap parking lot, touching the "day use" sign. ran all the way to the highest point of the rocks after the wooden walkway. and finished touching the same "day use" sign I started at. I think the starting point and ending point should be at the trailhead for the mill mountain trail, however the current GPX file has the route starting and ending in the parking lot, so I didn't want to deviate from that.
Weather wasn't great; very windy, and little colder that I would have preferred. Also rained the 2 days previous, so a lot of the trail was slick and some parts we muddy.
Trail is steep but runnable for the most part all the way up the ascent to the ridge. then it is a few ups and downs for a mile and half, and then one last little steep climb and rocky boulder hop to the summit. the trail is rocky but joggable/runnable for about 95+ percent of the time.
There is some more time to shave off of this effort for sure; I did a poor job at pacing myself on the first ascent, I had to carry a jacket and few other things because of the temps, and the trail was a little slick on the descent in some spots which cost me some time.
I did this completely unsupported, and I think that's the only style that makes sense. due to the short distance, I don't think re-supply, pacers, etc, are needed at all.
