There is no OAB FKT, but I still decided to go out moderately hard from the southern trailhead with the thinking that I can just submit whichever direction was faster. Heading north was relatively easy on smooth not too technical terrain. However, the blue blazes end about four miles north from the southern trailhead and turn into blue blazes with a red dot with no warning so I stopped a quarter mile down this new blazed trail thinking I made an errant turn. I stopped my watch and tried to load a map on my phone for about four minutes. I finally got alltrails to load and realized that I was on the correct path the entire time. The FKT course (N ->S) follows blue blaze, blue w/ red dot, blue w/ yellow dot, blue w/ red dot again. So I continued on toward the northern terminal before exiting onto Panthorn Trail Road in 58:45 active time. I paused my watch again while I caught my breath and drank some water that I brought, before turning around. Since I messed up my timing on the outbound, I was going to push harder on the return. Plus, I knew where most of the turns were now.

I caught most of my breath and headed back into the woods. I think going southbound is the better direction overall, but the initial climb is much more technical and strenuous. I power hiked most of the way back to the mainline blue blaze trail for a slow 20:21 first mile. Once I got to the mainline, I knew I could run the rest of the way since the path was slightly downhill and very runnable, so I picked up the pace significantly and cruised all the way through the final descent. I returned to the southern trailhead at 1:54:01 with no further watch pauses for a final FKT time heading North to South in 55:16.

Note:  N ->S course follows blue blaze, blue w/ red dot, blue w/ yellow dot, blue w/ red dot again. The S->N course follows blue w/ red dot, right onto blue w/ yellow dot, blue w/ red dot, blue blaze. Thanks!
