On 9/5/25 I attempted the Point 6 VK. Unsupported and solo. Given the short nature of the event it was completely self contained and I carried all of my supplies.
I was a little uncertain where the summit cairn deemed the end of the FKT route would be (as the summit is domainted by a weather station). But to my relief, it was very obvious about 100 yards shy of the weather station.
After completing the route, catching my breath, and refuelling, I continued out to Murphy peak and back at a casual pace, completing the backyard classic.
I intended to track the effort with Caltopo and a Garmin inreach, but my Inreach was out of batteries, so I used two apps on my phone: Caltopo and the Motion-X-GPS.
I gave it my best, but the time is still soft and will go way down in the hands of a professional or semi-professional runner.
